In today's world we are constantly surrounded and bombarded with pictures and videos of people who are seemingly perfect, brands that have the perfect products in the perfect setting or the family that has no issues and is seemingly as happy as can be.
Now when we look at how the real work works, is anything perfect in our everyday lives and do we ever fall into the perfect little commercial?
The answer is no and when we want to develop a brand that showcases the fact that we are different and that we have humanistic qualities we need to show the consumer that we share similar qualities and that we get them.
To do this we want to include regular people in our content that don't have the perfect bodies, the perfect face or the seemingly perfect family. We want to showcase the real people, the flaws, the kids running around like crazy people, the dog barking and the chaos that happens in really life.
When people see this stuff it motivates them and they find it funny, because they can quite literally relate to it. This is also why people tag their friends in posts like these, because they want them to see something they can both relate to.
To produce content like this just make sure you don't always put your perfect people in your content. Make an effort to talk with some of your clients or customers who might be a little camera shy or the people you constantly see running around chasing their kids or anything like that. These are the real life pieces that other people want to see.
For example in our gym StoneAgeFuel we do a bi weekly Facebook live segment and our coaches basically talk back and forth for 30min-1 hour while eating pizza!
Why do they eat pizza in this segment where people can see them "GASP" cheating on their seemingly perfect diets?
Because they are human and we want to show people that everyone has a little fun and everyone enjoys pizza once in a while...Especially your fitness professionals and in fact we have a whole day we call pizza Friday.
Other ways you can do this is to grab a mom and ask her if she'd be interested in doing a 5 min segment of mom and the kids or something similar to that. Get the mom talking, but also include the kids and all the hilarious things they do and say.
Don't edit anything out and keep all the pieces that you would think you need to cut out. By doing this you keep everything so much more real and relatable to your audience and therefore form a much stronger connection with them and encourage them to share your content with others!
Remember we are trying to be real with people and showcase the real people who work for you and who purchase your products and services.
Real people are not perfect and real people have flaws. Showcase this and you will win!
