Fear
What would people think about this if I did it? Would they like it? What would they say if they don't?
Is this a question you constantly ask yourself when you come up with a new idea and then you never actually put the idea into practice due to being afraid that people won't like it or react to it well.
Or is your progress stalled by the fear of the unknown or the inability to see what could potentially happen?
Fear is something that entirely and wholly cripples us and our progress due to preconceived notions on what could happen and especially what others may potential say about it.
The problem with fear is we tend to look more strongly at the potential "what if's" or the negative implications of what could happen.
This strongly overshadows the positive implications or the good things that could come from it, because no one wants to fail or get a nasty comment about something they produce.
In reality, though we need to use this fear as a catalyst for growth and a driver for moving forward. You have to remember that you're not always going to be able to predict the things that could happen.
But if you never do them you will never move forward and your progress will always be stalled.
Now if you're worried about someone not agreeing with it or if you're worried about what people could say in places like social media.
This absolutely shouldn't be an issue for you.
Mainly because criticism from friends and mentors is meant to help your vision or idea become crisper and with this, you can really drive what you're doing forward and eliminate the fear of what could potentially happen.
Another big problem and this is especially apparent with content production is the fear of what people will say when you post something online. No one likes the big bad internet bullies who never have anything good to say about anything.
This is the beautiful thing about social media in that when you post something you can get immediate feedback about it from your community.
Now if you have some trolls posting stupid comments and being jerks ignore those and move forward. Negativity like that is not even worth engaging nor reacting to.
But if you have comments from your community about how much they liked a particular segment or if they have thoughts about what you're doing. You can use that as a catalyst to drive forward and evolve what you're doing to mesh with and mold with your community on a continuous basis.
Don't think of fear as something that is always going to hold you back due to preconceived notions. Use it as a driver to continue pushing forward, to continue evolving and to continue building what you're doing to be highly successful.
Treat fear as your candy and embrace it to move forward, be excited about what can come from it and learn from your community.
Remember anything worth doing is not always something everyone is going to agree with.
Be different and be proud to be different!
